The Coming Year Dedicated to Studying Social Inequalities in Diet Quality in Quebec

Thanks to new funding from the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), data from NutriQuébec will be leveraged in 2026-2027 to enhance our understanding of social inequalities in diet quality in Quebec and the factors that influence them.

Today, poor diet quality remains one of the leading causes of chronic diseases, disability, and premature death in Canada. Factors such as income, education, and food insecurity has a profound influence on dietary intake and overall diet quality among Quebecers.

The work carried out over the coming year will help better understand these realities and identify the factors most closely associated with diet quality. The results will help inform actions and policies aimed at promoting healthy and equitable diets for all Quebecers.

The knowledge generated will be shared through a variety of channels, including dashboards, reports, scientific publications, and knowledge translation tools designed for decision-makers and public health practitioners.
